Salutaris & Other Ruins is a blatant play on the fact that one of this year’s finalists for the Pulitzer Prize in fiction was a work left unfinished at the time of the author’s death and completed by an editor. Except for two complete short stories, all of the novels in Salutaris & Other Ruins are unfinished and shall remain that way. That’s why they’re called “ruins.”
